Baoshan Temple

Baoshan Temple is Shanghai’s largest Buddhist temple. It is 32km from city center. Originally built in 1511 during the Ming Dynasty as a Taoist temple, it was later converted into a Buddhist site. After relocation and reconstruction starting in 2005, the temple features Tang Dynasty style architecture (the origin of Kyoto architectural style in Japan) with traditional pure wooden structures, covering about 12,000 square meters.

Not like Yu Garden, few tourists visit this place. We can find inner peace there. We can also enjoy vegetarian food in the monks’ dining hall.

In recent years, Shanghai has been working hard to improve the water quality of its urban rivers, and in some areas, the water quality has already met the requirements for water activities.

It’s a fantastic recreational sport. I recommend giving it a try if you have flexible travel schedule.

We will need to rent a car to carry equipment.
