Hi, I’m Rubato An — a long-time Shanghai resident who’s been documenting life here on anandalue.com since forever. I speak fluent English (and decent Chinese of course) and love showing people the real Shanghai — not just the tourist traps. Need a private companion/guide for your trip?
- Full-day hangout or multi-days trip : from hidden alleys and killer street food to underground electronic parties, rooftop bars, or just cycling in the city.
- 100% English communication and Chinese translation. Some traditional restaurant owners don’t speak English.
- Pay in RMB or your currency transfer (super easy for internationals)
Whether you’re here for business, adventure, or just want someone local-ish to vibe with, hit me up. No scripted tours, just real Shanghai life at your pace.
Check my blog for proof, I love delicious food from all over China (spicy especially), I love techno and house music.
Full-day : approximately 300-800 RMB (≈ $40-120 USD) based on distance , time and activity.
Parking fees, car rental expense, entrance fees and other fees are paid separately by you.

Hi, I’m Rafael Rodríguez, visiting Shanghai. I’m looking for a private underground music night tonight.
I’m into house, deep house, tech-house, techno and electro. I hate EDM and mainstream/commercial electronic music. I don’t care about fancy venues—I want great DJs, good sound, good drinks, and places for real music lovers.
Yesterday I went to Electric Circus and the music was terrible, so I’m looking for the complete opposite.
Can you arrange this for tonight? If so, what would the price be?
Hi Rubato,
We are 3 adults, a family (mother, daughter and father) from Hungary and will be travelling around Shanghai at the end of October.
We would like to have a private guide for two days:
• October 24 – a full day in Shanghai
• October 28 or 29 – a full day in Suzhou
In Shanghai, we are especially interested in authentic local life, old neighbourhoods, traditional culture, a Buddhist temple and places that are less touristy. We would also appreciate some practical help with using the metro, Didi, Alipay/WeChat Pay and ordering food, as this will be our first trip to China.
For Suzhou, we would like to see the beautiful classical gardens, old streets and canals. We plan to travel to Suzhou by high-speed train, so ideally we could meet you there rather than hire a car from Shanghai.
Are you personally available on these dates?
Could you please tell us your total guide fee for 3 people for each day, and whether there would be any additional costs for the Suzhou day?
Thank you!
Monika
